I follow the composting rules and my yards is (was) fenced. What else can I do to keep the bears away??

You need to get a “scarebear” for your yard obviously!

I have had good luck with spritzing compost bins and garbage cans with ammonia or bleach. You have to reapply it after rain but it is a safe deterrent. An excellent and safe product available through Home Hardware is ‘Scarecrow’, an motion activated sprinkler. Works great!
